Carbon accounting for industrial biotechnology

2010-11-24 : Carbon accounting for industrial biotechnology

Opportunities are emerging for the development of new industrial biotechnologies through forthcoming initiatives such as funding through the Technology Strategy Board in the UK. As greening of industry becomes a fundamental element of the economic recovery, demonstrating real carbon savings is essential. North Energy has a good track record of working within this sector and can provide necessary assistance to companies pursuing these initiatives. Based on our extensive experience and unique approach to evaluating greenhouse gas emissions, we can offer workbooks designed to meet your specific needs by incorporating parameterised models which reflect your technology. Examples of our previous work can be found via this website and also that of the NNFCC and the Biomass Energy Centre. Please contact us for further details.

North Energy was part of the project team that has helped a Berwick upon Tweed Community Renewable Energy company secure planning consent for a large Community wind turbine. North Energy supplied the visualisations and photomontage images that form a crucial part of any wind project.

North Energy uses specialist industry standard software to produce a range of visualisations, including ZTV maps (Zone of Theoretical Visibility), and photomontage images that show the turbine in its setting from a range of viewpoints.

The turbine will be in the 800kW to 900kW size range, and will generate a valuable income for further Berwick community projects. This is the first community based turbine project in the North East, and the planning application won unanimous support from Northumberland County Council's planning committee. Ross Weddle, Manager of CoRE Berwick believes the concept of a Community turbine has genuine appeal, and one that can be replicated across the North East and beyond. The turbine will be sited close to the A1 between Berwick and the England / Scotland Border.
